How we calculate
Vedic astrology (Jyotish) is one of the six Vedangas, the limbs of the Vedas. It uses the sidereal zodiac, which is fixed to the stars, so we subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa (about 24 degrees today) from the tropical positions. The Moon is computed with the principal terms of the modern lunar theory and is accurate to a fraction of a degree, enough to give the right nakshatra and tithi with their ending times. Sunrise and sunset are computed for the place you choose, because the panchang of the day is taken at local sunrise.
Daily rashifal follows classical Chandra gochar: the house the Moon occupies counted from your Moon sign. The 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th are the strongest, the 1st and 7th good, and the 8th the most sensitive. The monthly Sun transit and the yearly transits of Jupiter and Saturn, including Sade Sati, are added on each sign's page.
Faith and scripture go together here: every reading ends with a simple remedy that links to the scripture library, where you can read or listen to the Gita, Shiv Puran, Durga Saptashati and more. Scripture library →
Common questions
Are these Jyotish tools free?
Yes. Every tool on this page is free and needs no sign-up. Your birth details are used only to calculate your result and are not stored.
How is the daily rashifal calculated?
From the actual sidereal position of the Moon today (Lahiri ayanamsa), counted from each sign as in classical Chandra gochar, together with the transits of the Sun, Jupiter and Saturn.
Which ayanamsa is used?
Lahiri (Chitrapaksha), the ayanamsa adopted by the Government of India's Rashtriya Panchang.
Jyotish is a traditional guide for reflection, not a certainty. For health, money, legal or marriage decisions, take advice from qualified people and a learned astrologer who can study your full chart. Calculations: Lahiri ayanamsa; Moon and planets from standard astronomical formulas.
