About ShriRamJanmabhumi.com

ShriRamJanmabhumi.com is an independent guide to Shri Ram, the Ramayana, Raghukul and Ayodhya. Who we are, how we write and check, and how we are funded.

What this website is for

ShriRamJanmabhumi.com exists to do two things well. The first is to tell, in plain English and Hindi, what Shri Ram did and said, how the Ramayana unfolds, who the kings of Raghukul were, and what all of it means for the way we live. The second is to help anyone coming to Ayodhya, from the next district or the other side of the world, find what they need: the story behind each place, how darshan works, where to stay and eat, whom to call in trouble.

Who we are

We are an independent team. This is not the official website of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the trust that built and manages the temple, nor of any government department. We do not collect donations for the temple and we cannot issue passes. For those, use the trust's website, srjbtkshetra.org.

How we write

  • Stories are told as the Valmiki Ramayana, the Ramcharitmanas of Tulsidas and long-standing tradition give them. Where versions differ, or where something is a later or local tradition, we say so.
  • Each teaching begins from an actual episode and explains the reasoning, rather than simply asserting a moral.
  • For places, we give the story people tell and the practical facts a visitor needs. We deliberately avoid printing temple timings, fares and prices as fixed facts, because they change; we point you to the official source instead.
  • Emergency numbers are published only after checking them against an official source.
  • Pictures or videos made with AI are always labelled "AI-generated".

Corrections

On a subject this dear to so many people, mistakes matter. If you find one, please tell us. We correct errors promptly and note the date of the last update on every page.

How the site is funded

The site is free to read. It is supported by advertising and by featured listings in the directory. Advertisements are always labelled "Sponsored" and featured listings "Featured"; payment never changes what our guides say. See Advertise and List your business.

Where to begin

Jai Shri Ram.
