How to read your kundli

The lagna is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth; it sets the twelve houses and describes your body, nature and the direction of life. The Moon sign (rashi) describes the mind, and the nakshatra of the Moon gives the first syllable traditionally used for naming a child. The twelve houses cover self, wealth, siblings, home, children, health, marriage, longevity, fortune, career, gains and losses.

Common questions

What do I need to make a kundli?

Your date of birth, the exact time of birth and the place of birth. The more exact the time, the more accurate the ascendant (lagna).

What is Manglik dosha?

When Mars sits in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the birth chart, the chart is called Manglik. Many traditions also check from the Moon, and the effect is considered cancelled in several situations, so consult a learned astrologer before any decision.

Is my birth data saved?

No. The chart is calculated on the spot and nothing is stored.

Jyotish is a traditional guide for reflection, not a certainty. For health, money, legal or marriage decisions, take advice from qualified people and a learned astrologer who can study your full chart. Calculations: Lahiri ayanamsa; Moon and planets from standard astronomical formulas.
